MY SPECIALTIES
PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
INTEGRATED PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, my aim is to work with people to help them gain greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings and patterns of behavior, as well as an understanding of their origins. By so doing, we create, in partnership, a more coherent, complex and nuanced narrative of one's life. All of this is in the service of improving relationships, functioning in the world, and finding greater meaning and purpose.
Both medications and psychotherapy are powerful tools to enhance functioning and well-being, and they can be deployed together to good effect. Seeing the same provider for both allows for an opportunity to explore the meaning and experience of taking medication within a psychotherapy.
PERINATAL PSYCHIATRY
I specialize in the assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum, including perinatal bipolar disorder, antenatal depression, postpartum depression, perinatal OCD, postpartum psychosis, as well as infertility and pregnancy loss.
REPRODUCTIVE PSYCHIATRY
Disorders related to the reproductive life cycle, including premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMS, as mental health challenges related to the perimenopausal transition are assessed and treated.
MOOD DISORDERS
I have experience with the evaluation and pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic management of mood disorders, specifically major depression, persistent depressive disorder, treatment-resistant depression, and bipolar disorder.
ANXIETY
Anxiety can prompt us to look within and gain greater awareness of what we think and feel. However, it can also be quite debilitating at times. I help patients pull at the thread of their anxiety to unravel deeper truths and I also help patients to manage disabling anxiety via medications and psychotherapy.
